“The root of joy is gratefulness. It is not joy that makes us grateful: it is gratitude that makes us joyful.” – Bruder David Steindl-Rast

T h a n k y o u – unbelievable how these eight letters can change a situation, a moment, an attitude and view of life for the positive.
Just saying ‘thank you’ or just being ‘grateful’ – as we all know. However, the implementation of this seemingly very simple life formula can be very difficult in a stress- and ego-driven everyday life, because we simply forget about it or don’t take it as ‘important’ anymore.
I have therefore made it a habit to give thanks every morning during my morning prayer for everything I receive every day … for situations from which I am allowed to learn, for the beauty of our planet, for the love that is shown to me and that I am allowed to give.
During my runs in nature I always try to perceive my surroundings with mindfulness and it is unbelievable how many moments of happiness I am allowed to experience again and again, like today: I was running early in the morning, on the north coast of the island of Lesvos – it was wonderful to watch the awakening of nature – suddenly I had the feeling that dolphins could be nearby – I called out to sea ‘Spirit Of The Dolphin, where are you’ – about a minute later they were there – a group of about ten dolphins, full of joy, jumping out of the water in turn – what a blessing to be able to witness this spectacle of nature – what a happy moment that filled me with great gratitude.

🧑🏻🇪🇸🇺🇸🇬🇧🇦🇷 Montse Ruano

I first met Montse in 1998 during my London year – she is very good friend of a very good friend of mine. If anyone deserves to be called a bon vivant, it is Montse. I admire her artistic talents as well as her courage to keep discovering and living her life outside her comfort zone and far away from her native country Spain.
Montse now lives again in her hometown of Segovia in Spain – she is an actress director, puppeteer, singer and also writes lyrics – Here is a sample of her talent 👉https://youtu.be/vqcTuNd_S3M
In ‘Cumbia del llano’ Montse plays a woman who lives on the street and sings a song about a life with only the bare necessities. Her hobbies are traveling, reading, writing and talking walks in nature.

🙎🏻‍♂️🇦🇹Leo Erhart

Leo and I met in 2016 in the first Advanced Course on Spiritual Healing. What I admired from the beginning about Leo is that he is an incredibly patient, humble and loyal person. He radiates an inner peace and contentment that also positively affects those around him.
Leo grew up as the youngest child of nine children in the Tyrolean Pitztal (Austria), he works as a Cranio Sacral Therapist, is married and has 3 children – in his free time he enjoys cycling and skiing.

👱🏻‍♀️🇦🇹🇳🇦🇮🇪 Lisa Wallace

Lisa was the ‘first’ baby in my closest circle of friends – even as a baby she was charming with her warm and refreshing laughter. Today, Lisa is a confident, beautiful young woman who is very determined to make her way. What I appreciate about Lisa is that she is a very warm, courageous and passionate person. As a child she already discovered her love for horses and from that her profession was born. Lisa has a 1-year-old son and lives in the north of Ireland, where she has independently built up her business Orchard Stables and runs it with creativity and love.

👉How do you manage to say ‘thank you’ again and again in everyday life, to yourself, to others, to God?

I believe that I am a grateful person, but I don`t use to say “thank you” at all times. I do have the habit to appreciate the good things in life, such a sunrise, a sunset, a good meal, a chat with a good friend, having a job, etc. The way I express that gratitude is smiling and sharing. I definitely rather act more than say.

👉What are you grateful for today and in your current phase of life?

I am grateful because I am close to my family, as I have been living far away for the last 20 years. I am grateful because my family and me are in good health and without any big problem that keeps us away from sleeping. I found a job right away when I came back to my country, which was not that easy for quite an amount of people in the days of pandemic. I am grateful because I found a therapist who is helping me to overcome the fact that I came back to my roots, having left behind good friends, a career and style of life that is totally different to the one I had for nearly half of my lifetime.

👉Are there situations in which it was difficult for you to say ‘thank you’?

I cannot recall any difficult situation, as I wrote above, I believe I am a grateful and careful person. Well, actually, it happens sometimes to have difficulties to talk to someone because I am very shy, in that cases it could happen that I am not getting close to say “thank you” for something that I might have said some gratitude words, which I often regret.

👉How do you manage to say ‘thank you’ again and again in everyday life, to yourself, to others, to God?

In everyday life I manage very well to say thank you.
In the morning at sunrise, I thank God for the beauty he shows us. I have no problem saying thank you to others, for me it means respect for my fellow humans.
In order to say thank you to myself, I have to work more on myself in everyday life.

👉What are you grateful for today and in your current phase of life?

I am grateful for the awareness that I know inside that God exists.

👉Are there situations in which it was difficult for you to say ‘thank you’?

I have never had a problem saying thank you!

👉 How do you manage to say ‘thank you’ again and again in everyday life, to yourself, to others, to God?

After the birth of my son in 2021, I felt totally uncomfortable. I didn’t really take care of my health during pregnancy and gained too much weight. When Jamie, my son, was then about six months old, there was a turning point for me. I asked myself if I wanted to keep doing this or do something for myself. I prioritized my own well-being and have been grateful to myself every day for making that decision. This decision has not only changed my well-being, but I am also much more balanced since then, have more zest for life, can rejoice with others about their successes and am grateful that there are people who constantly support me on this path and are there for me.

👉What are you grateful for today and in your current phase of life?

I am grateful to be a mother every day. Even though this task is a life’s work and sometimes incredibly demanding, it is the most beautiful feeling. I am thankful that as a mother it is still possible for me to go to work and pursue my own interests. It is not a matter of course to reconcile everything and not lose yourself in the process. This new phase in my life is a wonderful, but also difficult phase that I don’t want to miss.

👉Are there situations in which you found it difficult to say ‘thank you’?

Of course, there are situations in which I would like to throw in the towel, and everything becomes too much for me. Especially in such situations in which it is very difficult for me to be grateful for what I have. Most of the time I try to stay calm and think about it. I always try to think positive and find the good aspects in every situation.
